Runaways is about a group of teenagers that each have their own tragic experiences. The musical covered problems ranging from abuse, self harm, mental disorders, to self identity.

Serena Pickett, a Curtis freshman said, “The scenery really fit the plot because the setting looked really abandoned, which they were.”

The cover of the program was designed by Curtis student Megan Laureno. Laureno’s design won the CTE Graphic Design program’s competition, to find a cover for the school’s production of Runaways.

During intermission, the performers had to stay in character for the entire 15 minutes. Bridget Mulvey, a sophomore, stated, “I think that each of the students did a great job playing their role and stayed in character through the entire show.”

Runaways is the first off-Broadway play Curtis has performed. Jonathan Eldredge, a sophomore, said, “I would rather see unfamiliar plays because they’re new and more interesting to watch because you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

“The play was a spectacular performance that could really move people. The actors did a great job staying in character throughout the performance. I think everyone can relate to at least one of the characters,” said Kelly Murray, a sophomore at Curtis.

According to Samara Lugo, one of the actresses in the performance, “I thought the musical came out really well. Every actor took their monologue and really made a character out of themselves.”
