Passage of time alters reflections of first semester of high school

Freshman discuss their first semester at Curtis and seniors reflect on their choices.

Freshmen have just completed their first semester of high school and they have individual opinions on what their first semesters were like, and what  they would have done differently.  Freshman Queenie Adams said, “My first semester was good in a way, but if I had to go back and change something, I would’ve studied more to get better test scores.”

Another Freshman, Isabel Gonzalez said,  “I would’ve not lost my metro card and student ID so much and I would’ve tried to be more social.”

It is easy for freshman to recall their first year, but they do not have three years of hindsight like the seniors.

When the senior class looks back to their freshmen year they have a different take on their early high school experience.  Knowing what she knows now, Arian Sterling would have done things very differently if she was a freshman again.  Sterling said,  “I would have taken more vigorous classes sooner, so I wouldn’t have to be taking so many now.”

JohnathanToro another senior with a similar answer said, “I wish I had taken more classes as a freshman, so I could graduate sooner.”

Carlos Simon however was satisfied by his freshman year. “I wouldn’t have done anything differently, I made some pretty good choices as a freshman. I got into SIS from the choices I made during that time.”

Kerry Wan states, “The only thing that I would change about what I did as a freshman would be that I would not have cut my classes as much.”
