The Curtis Dance Company put on a stunning display of talent and coordination with their annual dance show on May 1st. & 2nd. From 5 to 7 pm, they performed pieces created by alumni, students, and professional artists. Each piece was introduced with a short speech explaining the creator’s intentions and inspirations when choreographing that piece. This year’s show was put together in collaboration with the Battery Dance Company, with whom the Curtis dancers have partnered for at least 16 years.
Junior Djenab Diallo has been a member of the dance company for three years. She reflected, “Overall, I believe the dance show went very well. My favorite part of the experience would have to be the moments backstage between dances. Between the moments where I had a quick change between dances, and other times where I had a break, the energy between dancers was truly unmatched. Backstage is where you get first hand experience supporting others, and receiving support when you need it.”
The show saw a huge student turnout. Hundreds of Warriors filled into the auditorium, eager to watch the show. Sophomore Harley Dominguez reflected: “It was a good show. My favorite dance was Dirty Diana.”
