Top five episodes of The Office

A countdown of the funniest and most memorable episodes of the popular TV show, “The Office.”

the officeThe Office” is one of the most loved shows of all time. From the great ensemble casting to the unique documentary style format, it is hard to find flaws in this perfect comedy series. Instead, this list focuses on the top five episodes. If you haven’t watched the show and plan on watching it, please consider that this list does contain spoilers.

5. Diversity Day

This is only the second episode of the show, and already it shows the awkward and witty comedy the audience can come to expect throughout the series. It features Branch Manager, Michael Scott, trying to complete a day of racial sensitivity training and turning it into a hilarious, politically incorrect extravaganza. The episode also touches on the romance brewing between Jim and Pam.

4. The Injury

Michael Scott is no stranger to exaggerating, moaning, and whining, so it’s no surprise that when he burns his foot on his George Foreman Grill while getting out of bed, he ceases all activities in the office and demands hospitality for his minor injury. Meanwhile, Dwight is suffering from a severe concussion and is not acting like himself.

3. Garage Sale

The whole office gets together to sell their old junk in the warehouse. It gets pretty outrageous when Dwight is convinced that, with the art of the trade, he can go from a thumbtack to the best item in the warehouse. Dwight follows through but is thwarted as Jim convinces him to trade an expensive telescope for a packet of magic beans. The episode ends on a touching note as Michael proposes to his girlfriend Holly and announces to the office that they will be moving to Colorado.

2. Threat Level Midnight

If you want constant laughs this episode delivers throughout, as you sit through a screening of Michael Scott’s homemade action movie “Threat Level Midnight.” Whether it’s the movie’s lack of a cohesive story, the ridiculous one-liners from protagonist Michael Scarn, or the incredibly poor production values, this movie is a train wreck in the best sense of the phrase. In the words of Michael Scarn, “Cleanup on aisle five.”

1. Niagara (Parts 1 & 2)

One of the main reasons “The Office” is so great is its realistic and heartwarming relationship between Jim and Pam. After four seasons of “will they, won’t they,” the stars align and Jim and Pam start dating, and by season five they get married in the two-part episode “Niagara.” Although the wedding has its fair share of flaws, and Pam’s pregnancy is accidentally exposed at the reception, it is a great wedding, and it succeeds in being one of the most emotional weddings on television.
