Annual senior trip moves to fall

Despite chilly weather Curtis seniors enjoy trip to Fright Fest.

Things got spooky for Curtis seniors on Saturday, October 21st as 204 of them boarded the buses to Six Flags Fright Fest. Being a senior trip, all seniors were allowed to go but its overwhelming popularity lead to the last minute ordering of more buses. This was the first time in ten years that the Six Flags senior trip was moved from the spring to October for Fright Fest.

Mr. Fornabaio, the senior advisor, said, “changing the trip date was a good idea because since it was around prom last year, it was a financial difficulty for some students.”

People were equally excited and disappointed in the change. Mr. Cogan, senior IB English teacher and one of the 14 chaperons, commented, “the park was very crowded, definitely the most crowded I’ve ever seen. I think it was even unusual for Six Flags.” This didn’t spoil anyone’s fun since in spite of the congestion, most students managed to get on an average of four rides.

This also served as a first time experience for some students; senior Gabrielle Belaya said, “I don’t go to Six Flags often and this was my first time at Fright Fest. I liked that the weather was nice, even if it was a little chilly.”

Some students were happy about the senior trip being changed to the fall and others weren’t. Senior Liam Dowd said, “it was a great senior bonding experience for all of us and I had a lot of fun with my friends. My favorite ride was definitely Superman, I didn’t mind the long wait because the time flew by talking.”

However, another senior, Erik Fu, commented, “Fright Fest is overrated and the park was very crowded, I only got on two rides.”

Another senior, Madison Bruns, said, “I enjoy both seasons but I would’ve preferred the spring because it would’ve been warmer and people would’ve been less dramatic.”

Some kids even reported that there was a substantial amount of people cutting the lines. Senior Zachary Sadiki says, “When I was in line for Superman, two groups of people skipped us and a lot of other people in line entirely but no one said anything.”

Being a trip to Fright Fest, it ended rather late; most buses left the park at around 12:30. Most kids reported getting home after 2 AM. Senior Rachael Sanyaolu said, “I got home at almost three in the morning.”
