Wind and snow cancels games

As a result of harsh weather PSAL cancells games to keep students safe.

As we all have experienced, the weather at the beginning of March has been particularly unfavorable this year. With temperatures below thirty, and wind chills below zero, the winter weather was unforgiving. Unfortunately, the beginning of March also marked the beginning of spring sports seasons. Due to the chilly weather, many practices needed to be held indoors. The field remained covered in snow for about the first two weeks of March. One lacrossse game was canceled due to the wind.

A total of twenty-four games or matches were cancelled in the beginning of March and early April. JV baseball having the most cancellations with  six games.

The boys and girls lacrosse teams each had  three games postponed at the beginning of the season. “It’s annoying because we’re always ready to go on game day, and it’s just a big disappointment when we find out the same day that our game is canceled.”  said Eli Weiner.

“I think the PSAL and our sports administration is just being very cautious. It makes sense, especially after Miles passed away. They’re trying to keep us safe.” said Ryan Ruatenstrauch. Once the snow melted and the weather grew warmer, the sports seasons began to go as planned.
