Coaches using JupiterGrades

JupiterGrades helps coaches to keep track of their team’s eligibility.

To stay on their sports teams, Curtis student-athletes must pass five core classes and gym. JupiterGrades has been a way for coaches to keep track of their teams academic standings and see how a student is doing in class. Coaches can message teachers through JupiterGrades and teachers can also send progress reports to coaches.

“It is beneficial that the coaches get to see their students’ JupiterGrades,” said the varsity volleyball Coach Barone. “I see what the kids are doing and when they have games and when they are going to tutoring, also when they get injured and they have a note for it. We do daily attendance and check up on them.”

Thomas Worrell, a senior on the varsity lacrosse team, said, “Honestly I don’t mind it. I think it’s better because we have a lot of kids who slack off all the time so it’s a good thing to keep everyone on track.”

However, some students find this very invasive of their privacy and do not agree with it. Olivia Ayala, another member of the volleyball team said, “I had no knowledge about my coach keeping track of me on JupiterGrades. I do find it an invasion of privacy, it’s better for me to see my own bad grades on JupiterGrades but not for  my coaches to see them.”
