Four years ago, I could never have imagined myself as an Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper. My introduction to newspaper was like being a stray dog, picked up by the scruff of the neck and dropped into an unfamiliar place that slowly became home.
I still remember, clear as day, my very first weeks of unpaid labor. Ms. Turner convinced me to stay at school until 6PM so I could finish the sports round up. After we finished I ran down to the terminals to get my bus. The bus was determined to pass me, but as I ran to catch it a small group of boys saw me running through the night and cheered me on.
This one day could summarize the rest of my high school career. The lows of staying late into the night and then the brief, yet unadulterated highs.
Ms. Turner took me under her wing and guided me through one of the hardest periods of my life, four years of high school and a very difficult senior year.
I’m glad I haven’t written too much so this can be my first and last editorial.
