Curtis students showed their talent and hard work at the Winter Arts Festival on January 13th. The show began with Curtis Night Live (CNL) introducing the acts to the audience. Between acts, the CNL players told jokes and kept the audience engaged.
The first half of the show revolved around the band and the chorus. The audience listened diligently during each performance, and erupted in applause as soon as each one ended. This year, Curtis even displayed a new band, and it’s safe to say that their first performance was definitely a hit! The chorus sang energetic songs that had everybody dancing and clapping to the beat. The symphonic band ended off the first half of the show with an unexpected collaboration with Ms. Harper’s jazz dance class. While the band played a mix of Micheal Jackson songs and as a student sang the lyrics, the dancers performed choreographed number that revolved around the songs.

When asking one of the performers how they felt about the Winter Arts Festival, they said they’re “excited because it’s an opportunity to be dancing with all my friends and show them what we’ve been working on for the last four months.”
After intermission, Curtis Players captivated the audience with their performance of two songs from this year’s play The Wedding Singer. They showed their singing and dancing skills, alongside their matching shirts. The rest of the show continued with performances from band and dance company.
Outside of the auditorium, the school was adorned with displays of artwork from our talented artists. Many were seen enjoying the artwork while waiting for the show to start. The doors opened early for people to see artwork.
As per usual, the Winter Arts Festival did a great job at showing the talent and dedication of our students and boosted our school spirit!
