Hour of Code
The “Hour of Code” is a introductory course to computer science for high school students. December 5th, 2018, students had the opportunity to be one of a million kids across the United States to take an hour of their day to learn what computer science is. I myself, a participant in this activity, simply logged onto the website and began coding. Beginner courses such as designing games were made available for everyone and the programs taught students how to place lines of code and write a script. These commands of script allow your icon to move. After completing the game the website gave a brief description on the importance of computer science and how to applies to the world. I found it very interesting, especially how you are able to write code to program anything you desire. Alex Thomas, reflected on the experience. “I thought the introduction of CS was really eye opening.”
