High school is different from middle or elementary school in the way you have a lot of freedom, so don’t abuse it. First, don’t skip. Skipping gets addicting. By just doing it once, it brings down your grades like crazy. I didn’t believe it until I started doing it myself and saw how it affected me in many ways. Being present is very important for graduating high school. I had a lot of absences and it didn’t help me at all when I tried to bring my grades up. Always remember that teachers are here to help you. They mean it when they say that they’re here to listen to your problems and questions. Also know that it’s your responsibility to look on Google Classroom and TeachHub to see what you’re missing and what needs to be handed in.
Be active in school. Join sports teams, school clubs, and school events. It’s beneficial for your first year in high school so make it memorable. Some sports you may want to look into are soccer, volleyball, softball, or basketball. As for school clubs, we have My Sister’s Keeper, a group of girls that do bonding activities. Art Club lets you discover new ways to express yourself. The Nursing Club allows you to explore the nursing house, so joining also helps a lot if you’re already in the nursing program. The yearbook club is where you take photos and write stories for the yearbook. There are many more if you’re interested. Ask around or attend Club Rush to find out about more clubs.
