The entire Curtis Community is mourning the loss of Mr. Kurt Yorke, who passed away Monday, May 26. Mr. Yorke graduated from Curtis in 1983 and came back in 1985 as a staff member. Except for a brief stint working in Manhattan, he has been a fixture at Curtis for almost 40 years. Yorke was by no means defined by his job title. He helped in the hallways, with supplies, in the cafeteria, and at athletic events. He was a kind man, who went out of the way to help people. He had a booming voice that could be heard in the cafeteria and throughout the hallways. When it came to managing the school’s supplies, nobody was better. Before you even hung up the phone to order whatever supplies you needed, they were delivered to your classroom.
Above all, Kurt was a good friend to many people. He embodied the Warrior spirit. We will all miss his presence at school. He leaves a big hole in our hearts.
Rest in peace Kurt.
