Fundraising bake sales banned

School administrators ban in school bake sales.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THE SNACKS? Cookies? Bagels? Brownies? Who stole all of our cake and pizza? In the beginning of the school year and in past years, there were  many bake sales.  The large alcove in front of the auditorium hosted these sales. These sales allowed sports teams to earn money for uniforms and sports equipment and clubs to have money for their own events.

However, since the winter started, there haven’t any bake sales.

There was a big fight in late December in front of a bake sale. The problem was that the teachers and security could not get through the crowd of people. These crowds happened every time there was a bake sale. Dr. Curtis saw this as a security risk which is why the bake sales ended.

According to Mr. Burbano, ”There isn’t enough room for the bake sales and whenever there is one, some trouble will most likely happen. There is a high chance that there will be no more bake sales until the end of the year, though this is not Dr. Curtis’s final word.”

Now that there will not be any more bake sales, clubs and sports teams have to find other ways to make money to meet their goals. A way that some sport teams make money is to sell things, like t-shirts, caps, etc., at their events., They sometimes have other students volunteer to sell the items for them. However, there is no current way for clubs to make money. Mr. Burbano said, “the students themselves can come up with an idea on how to raise money during the Club Summit.”
