Curtis is a school with over 100 years of history. Recently, some of that history resurfaced in the nursing department when the belongings of a student from 1983 were found in a locker. “We wanted to know why it was jammed. We use them to store books,” said nursing teacher Ms. Fasano.

The locker was opened and inside were the possessions of Helene DeAngelis, including a jacket, belt, and notebooks. Even though they have been left in the locker for 32 years, the teachers are trying to reunite DeAngelis with her things. Ms. DiStefano, another nursing teacher and Curtis graduate, was a friend of DeAngelis who went to school with her. “We’re trying to get in touch with her through Facebook and with my old classmates. We think she still lives on the island,” said Ms. DiStefano.

So far they have not been able to contact her. In the meantime her stuff is staying where it is. “We’ve left it, it’s not ours,” said Fasano, “We’ve had a lot of interest in the jacket because it has the original Warriors patch.”

The notebook is covered with variations of “Helene loves Jerry,” though it’s unclear who Jerry is. “I would love to know who Jerry is. I would love to know who she was obsessed with,” said sophomore Kathreena Bunch.
