Boys bowling team defeats returning champions

Four bowlers became one when they beat McKee/Staten Island Tech.

On September 29th, the Curtis High School boys bowling team beat the returning champions Mckee/Staten Island Tech (MSIT) 2-1. The game took place at Rab’s Country Lanes, where they were  previously 0-3 against  the champs.

Ms. Isasi-Endress, the team coach, said “I’m very excited and proud of all the progress we’ve made in the short time allotted, and the game was a confidence builder so I am looking forward to more matches.”

According to the captain Luis Gutierrez, “The hardest part of the match was consistency because if one person bowled bad the whole team bowled bad, so it depended on each member of the team to help win. Overall, our team did a great job and I hope we stay consistent for the rest of our matches.”

Teams A and C won their matches. In team A, the bowler with the highest score was Thomas Hollywood with a 233 and he also had the highest score on Team C, with a 236. Hollywood said that the hardest part of the game for him was staying focused during the match because there was a lot going on. A tip Hollywood gave was,  “Always try your best and don’t let an open frame ruin your game.”

Jonathan Guash, a sophomore on the team said, “Our team is full of warrior pride and hopefully we can use that pride to win more matches.”
