FFFThe Fall Family Festival was an event coordinated by the Health Clinic along with the Health Ambassadors. It took place on October 25th in the girls gym and the auditorium from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

At the festival, many fun and interesting activities were available. In the entrance to the girls gym, the New York Food Bank volunteers played a game where students guessed how much sugar certain drinks contained. They then sampled homemade flavored water. The volunteers also gave away T-shirts, bottles, mirrors, and many other freebies. The step team also performed one of its routines and there was even an interactive Do Mu Kyoku karate trial, where students were taught karate skills.

NBA Cares sponsored the NBA Clinic. Phaethon Bolton, a Division 1 player for the Wake Forest Demon basketball team, created an exercise station where students learned how basketball players work out. Bolton said, “I really enjoyed working with the kids and I’m glad that I had the opportunity to help them learn more about being active.” Meanwhile, two Brooklyn Nets dancers, Asha and Nicole, sat at the entrance to the girls gym taking pictures, signing posters, and giving out free tickets to a Brooklyn Nets male practice.

There was also a Zumba trial class, which was run by Curtis alumna Teresa Richards. The Zumba trial provided students with the chance to try out Zumba and see if similar exercises interest them.
