The Do’s and Don’ts of Selfies

Celebrities, politicians and everyday people are taking selfies. According to WCBS, approximately 93 million selfies are taken per day. Even President Obama was in a selfie with the German Chancellor at Nelson Mandela’s funeral. If you’re going to post a selfie on social media, make sure to follow these do’s and don’ts.

• DO make sure you have a flattering angle.

• DO be wary of your surroundings, you don’t want anything strange in the background.

• DO make sure you have great lighting, preferably natural light.  It is better to take a selfie outside.  It also avoids the flash.

• DO go through all the filters and choose the best one you can find.

• DO make sure you have the best caption for the picture.

DO smile (unless it’s a funny photo).

DO make sure you’re dressed properly and you are not a complete mess, you don’t want everyone seeing you after you just rolled out of bed.

DON’T try too hard or the picture will come out awkward.

DON’T do the duck face, although we all do it, it is worn out and basic.

DON’T use the flash or it will make the photo look washed out.
