Comics go digital

Classic comics are coming to both the big and small screen. The Flash and Gotham are both new adaptations of classic DC Comics. Gotham, a different take on the Batman comic, which premiered September 22nd on Fox 5 at 8 PM, has had over 8.3 million viewers. The story revolves around detective Jim Gordon who solves crimes in Gotham and is trying to figure out who killed Bruce Wayne’s parents. Detective Jim Gordon is played by Ben Mckenzie, Fish Mooney by Jada Pinkett Smith, Harvey Bullock by Donal Logue, and The Penguin by Robin Taylor. Bruce Wayne is played by David Mazouz. The show is full of action and is a great reminder of comics from childhood.

DC also released the first season of The Flash, which premiered October 7th 2014,  on Pix 11 on Tuesday nights at 8. The Flash is played by Glee actor Grant Gustin. Other cast members include Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow. The first season of the show included many of the Flash’s comic book enemies such as Gorilla Grodd, Killer Frost and The Reverse Flash. The show adheres closely to the comic story line and  is very suspenseful.

The series Arrow is another show coming from DC Comics. Season three of this show premiered in early September on Pix 11, starring Stephen Amell as the Green Arrow, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Kathie Cassidy as Black Canary, and Colton Haynes as Red Arrow. Finally, the biggest surprise of the DC TV world is the crossover between The Flash and Arrow, which will be a two-part special that deals with the Green Arrow and the Flash getting into a dispute over a past incident.
